We spent a full day out on the town on Saturday starting with Megan picking up some sweets at Huckleberry on her way to our house. We then spent the afternoon at MOCA which was absolutely fabulous. Their current exhibition is worth a trip downtown. We then celebrated the day with a visit to Corkbar for some vino before our big dinner... the day only got better.

Dinner was happily spent at Wurstküche which we also recommend. We had a party of 16 people and drank Belgian beer, ate fries until we were silly and devoured gourmet sausages. A day well spent, if we have to say so ourselves.

Let's start this year off right with a dress day for Megan's sister, Lauren! Her wedding is set for the 11th of September and will take place in a park with a lovely garden setting, followed by an indoor reception in a rustic setting. It sounds like it will be fabulous... but I will let Megan tell you about the special event in detail sometime soon.

Megan planned a lovely day in Los Angeles for her sister to help her find THE DRESS. We stopped at Saks Fifth Avenue, took a little lunch break at the Catherine Malandrino boutique, then headed to Monique Lhuillier where we watched Lauren try on more dresses while we sipped champagne and satisfied our sweet tooth with cupcakes from Vanilla Bake Shop.

It was a wonderful day and we can't wait to see the stunning couple on their special day... Cheers to Lauren and Chris!

We recently had the pleasure of selling Peach Press letterpress stationery, holiday cards and wine tags at the Bel Air Country Club, which turned out to be a huge success. We met quite a few beautiful women, had lovely conversations and really took in the holiday cheer that surrounded us. We just delivered an order to a favorite local shop of ours; we are thrilled with how it turned out and wish them many sales over the holidays.

We are now wrapping up a few projects here and there so we can get ready for the holiday. Megan will be enjoying time with her family up north and I will be local, traveling to East Los Angeles to celebrate all we are thankful for in this beautiful life.

Mistakes in Typography

I have recently been getting into watching the show Mad Men (by Megan's recommendation) and I have to admit–I'm addicted. But I'm also a nerd, or at least I thought so until now. Or at least this article makes me feel a little better about my shouting of typefaces as I recognize them in public. At least with Mad Men, I can do it in the comfort of my own home.

The New York Times recently published an article in the Arts section about mistakes in typography and I found myself comforted and grinning. It calls on the show Mad Men and just like all the reviews, gives praise to the set design, costumes, even the correlation between the characters and what drinks they prefer. I was happy to have proof to justify the situation of my lame excitement with type, but most importantly, happy to realize I am only scratching the surface. Megan and I have many things in common, but 2 that truly hold a strong bond between us is cooking and the Central Coast. We met while attending California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. A sleepy little college town tucked away between the rural coastline of the Central Coast and the valley, which is covered in vineyards. Vino, anyone?

Megan and I love to cook; while we have our own unique style and special touches, we cook well together. I came across this cookbook recently and thought of her and how nice it would be to cook a few recipes out of this magnificent looking book. I'm adding it to my wish list.

Have a wonderful Sunday. I'm off to the Farmer's Market, feeling inspired by the cookbook. I'm planning to make tomato bisque with goat cheese toast and roasted chicken with fresh herbs. What will my veggie be... perhaps some asparagus? Mmm. I guess I will have to wait and see what looks like a winner at the market.

Despite the warm weather, we are loving our trips to the studio. Instead of our "printer's pants" we adjust accordingly and put on our "printer's shorts" these days to beat the heat. We giggle, give the Peach a lot of love and attention and produce work that gets us really excited. We often high-five each other.

Our most recent project is a custom designed wedding invitation for a couple who will wed this August in Romania. She is from China and he is from Romania. They are a sweet, soft spoken couple who seem like when they are together there is no one around but each other. Their wedding invite was printed in gold on a pearl white extra heavy 100% cotton paper in 2 languages and includes a double happiness Chinese character on the bottom right. The finished size of the invite is 7x7 and they were so thoughtful of their guests to include a thank you card to match their invitation suite.

Why are we called the Peach Press? After years of silly giggling, sunny wine tasting adventures, and lots of college craziness, we've grown to adoringly call each other "Peach." "Hi Peach," "You're a Peach," "You're so peachy," we could go on and on. Be it a pet name or loving expression, it only seemed fitting that a partnership between us would be just as sweet as the delicious fuzzy fruit. We even call the beautiful press a Peach - or by it's Japanese name "Momo."

Welcome to Peach-Press.com! Thank you for visiting our blog! I thought I'd bite the bullet and make our first post to introduce ourselves. The Peach Press is a dream come true for three best friends - Andria, Amy & myself (Megan). We met while studying printing (Graphic Communication) at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, and haven't stopped laughing, loving, or inspiring each other ever since. Our passion for letterpress and love for beautiful stationery led us to start this exciting endeavor. Through the Peach Press we will join our great minds and talents to provide social stationery and greeting cards that make people smile, laugh and celebrate the beauty of life.
